Ijede Chairman Launches Free Maternal, Newborn Healthcare Programme ‘Tunrayo Delivery Kit’ Initiative

Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo -Alogba, Chairman, Ijede LCDA and her Vice, Hon. Femi Kareem, with some of the expectant mothers at the launch of the Free Maternal and Newborn Healthcare Programme and the “Tunrayo Delivery Kit” initiative at the Oke-Eletu Primary Healthcare Centre on Wednesday.

‎The Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, on Wednesday, officially launched a Free Maternal and Newborn Healthcare Programme and the “Tunrayo Delivery Kit” initiative at the Oke-Eletu Primary Healthcare Centre.

‎The launch follows the Chairman’s recent assessment visit to the facility on July 1, 2026.

‎This initiative is designed to ensure that every expectant mother in Ijede has access to quality, and professional maternal healthcare.

‎Addressing beneficiaries, healthcare workers, and community stakeholders at the launch, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba emphasised the administration’s commitment to helping mothers and make child delivery to not be a burden in Ijede LCDA.

‎“This programme is introduced to reduce the financial burden associated with childbirth and to encourage more women to utilise skilled maternal and quality healthcare services.

“As a government, we will continue to invest in programmes that improve the well-being of women, children, and our most vulnerable residents.”

Expectant mothers at the launch of the Free Maternal and Newborn Healthcare Programme and the “Tunrayo Delivery Kit” initiative at the Oke-Eletu Primary Healthcare Centre on Wednesday.

‎Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Abidemi Gbadamosi expressed deep gratitude to the Council Chairman for her compassionate support and commitment to maternal welfare in the community.

‎Since assuming office, Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba has championed numerous health interventions, including: The Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign for children aged 9 months to 14 years and the second edition of the JIGI BOLA health outreach.

‎Her administration has also partnered the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) to provide free health insurance for over 1,000 residents; Commemoration of World Breastfeeding Week with local nursing mothers; rehabilitation and commissioning of the Oke-Eletu Primary Healthcare Centre, including the donation of a fully equipped ambulance and Regular free medical outreach programmes across communities within the LCDA.
